One of the strangest cemeteries in the world. It is located on Bali Island in Indonesia near the batur volcano in the north of the island. The eruption of the volcano will separate the village from the rest of the island. Thanks to this, the local population (Bali Aga) have preserved ancient traditions and resisted the influence of other cultures. In order to reach the cemetery, we have to cross the Batur volcano and then we will reach the cemetery by boat.
The people of Trumani hides their relatives on the ground, covering the bodies with a tent of leaves and branches. The corpses break down and dry out. After two years, the skull is separated from the rest of the body and put on a stone bench. By the way, the surroundings are full of clothing leftovers, remnants of funeral ceremonies. Visitors make a sacrifice to the souls of the deceased. The cemetery is covered with incense trees whose fragrance neutralizes the smell of the decomposing body.
