Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York, USA
Calverton National Cemetery is the largest cemetery in the world and the United States with an area of about 430 hectares. Founded in the late 20th century, it is located in Suffolk on the New York coast. According to unofficial data, about 10 thousand burials are performed here every year. The necropolis also has about a dozen monuments to war veterans. Because of the enormous "interest" in Calverton's burial, the cemetery has developed administrative burial procedures for which several nearby sites are used as cremation and temporary storage sites for the dead. When it comes to American cemeteries in general, Calverton National Cemetery is one of the most historic cemeteries in terms of cultural tourism and is visited all year round.
