Kensay cemetery, Almata, Kazakhstan

Kensay cemetery is one of the most famous and beautiful necropolises in Kazakhstan. “Kensai” in translation from Kazakh is called “Wide Abyss”. The cemetery is located in the eastern part of Almaty (9 km from the city center), at the intersection of Bazarbayev-Ormanov, on the top of a mountain, from where the whole city is visible in full growth. Here they say about Kensai - "Closer to Allah, away from chaos." The Kensai cemetery is of a Muslim nature. There are many people in the cemetery from different cities of Kazakhstan, who are considered outstanding artists, religious figures, politicians and others. The cemetery is full of architectural ideas, tombstones and monuments that are artistically interesting for visitors to the cemetery. The cemetery is divided into two parts: Kensai-1 and Kensai-2. Currently, burials take place mainly in the second part of the cemetery.
