Montevideo Central Cemetery in Uruguay
The central cemetery in the Barrio Sur district of Montevideo is one of the main and most attractive cemetery sites in Uruguay. It is also one of the most popular in the country, considering that the most famous Uruguayan people are buried here. It is located in the southern part of the city and was founded in the first half of the 19th century. The cemetery was originally located far from the city, mainly due to the constant risk of an epidemic.
