Ohlsdorf Cemetery, in Hamburg, Germany
Olsdorf Cemetery (Ohlsdorfer Friedhof or (formerly) German Hauptfriedhof Ohlsdorf) is a cemetery in the Olsdorf district of Hamburg, the largest park-cemetery in the world as a non-military cemetery. It was founded in the second half of the 19th century, as a as a non-denominational and multi-regional burial site outside of Hamburg. The area of the cemetery is about 400 hectares. There are more than 280 thousand graves and one and a half million burials in 2020. The cemetery has 4 entrances to public and private transport and 25 bus stops. The cemetery park is a significant attraction: it is visited by more than two million tourists a year. In addition to the majestic mausoleums, there are sculptures, ponds, birds, rhododendrons and a funeral museum.
