Powązki Cemetery - also known as Old Powązki. This is one of the largest, famous historical cemeteries in Poland, located in the capital of Warsaw itself. This is the most famous cemetery in the city and one of the oldest necropolises of the 18th century. Here are the graves of many outstanding people from the history of Poland and the whole world. It is estimated that over 1 million people are buried in. Initially, the Powązki Cemetery covered an area of about 2.5 hectares, today it is about 45 hectares (2020). The gravestones in the cemetery, like many old European cemeteries, were created by some of the most famous sculptors of the era, both Polish and foreign. Some monuments are excellent examples of different styles of architecture. Powazki is a place that is very often Warsaw residents and tourists willingly visit.
